Bash, the Bourne Again Shell

A shells is the program that a user interacts with in a terminal that interprets commands entered. Shells also offer a programming language that is used to create scripts (programs).

The most common shell and the default shell on Ubuntu, Bash, the Bourne Again Shell, it uses a superset of the commands in the older Bourne shell as well as concepts drawn from the C shell.
